Our CSR Philosophy

Vijay Mundhra

Chairman (Willowood Group)

Farmers are the backbone of the Indian economy.

Farmers are an indispensable part of the Indian ecosystem. With 1.3 billion mouths to feed, they will play a crucial role in India’s future economic growth, and safeguarding their interests is essential if we are to achieve food security and sustainable growth as a nation.

India has made promising strides in its manufacturing and service sectors, leading to growing prosperity among the urban classes. Yet, unfortunately, farming communities continue to be left behind, due in part to poor education or inadequate infrastructure or poor management of market forces.

At Willowood we believe that as stakeholders in Indian agriculture, we all have a responsibility to help bridge the income gap and build a secure future for our farmers. Consequently, all of our CSR activities focus on empowering farmers and their families with the tools and knowledge they need to support themselves.

Our initiatives in soil testing and agroforestry help farmers to improve the productivity of their land, while health care camps enable them to make more productive use of their time. We are also exploring scholarships that would allow candidates from farming families to study agricultural sciences, with the hope that they will return and use their knowledge to further the prosperity of their communities.
